Our team was founded in 2012 and became an active member of the New England tennis community in 2016. We are both recreational and competitive in nature. Being a co-ed team, we play a combination of singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. We practice regularly during the school year and play matches and tournaments against other Club Tennis teams from colleges and universities in the area.

We provide a medium between MIT’s pre-existing NCAA Varsity Athletics program and the Intramural Tennis league so that those who are interested in lower commitment but high level tennis have a place to do so here at MIT. Many students who are passionate about the sport and have played competitive tennis for much of their life, including high school varsity players as well as some college players, expressed concerns that they were unable to dedicate the time to Varsity tennis while Intramurals lacked the competition and exposure they desired.

We play in local tournaments and matches against other Club Tennis teams and participate in the New England Sectionals every year. During last year’s Sectionals, we placed 1st in the silver bracket of the Sectionals tournament, and this year, we placed 5th in the gold bracket, earning us our first bid to the USTA TOC National Tournament. We are eager to continue competing in larger tournaments with more schools and compete on a more national scale.
