The MIT Sport Taekwondo club had a stellar year, competing at 4 tournaments in the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference on the lead up to the National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships, which were to be held at the University of California, Berkeley in April.

MIT was the defending 2019 national champion club in the Championship (black belt) Division. Our club continued excellence this year, earning an impressive 47 medals in the 4 tournaments, and taking an average of approximately 40 competitors to each event, including an impressive 3 gold medals in the black belt poomsae division.

Also of note, freshman Karyn Real qualified for the 2020 USA National Poomsae Team, and sophomore Kevin Jiang competed on the 2019 National Poomsae Team.

Unfortunately, the team couldn’t attend Nationals due to COVID-19 disruptions.
